Pastor’s Update

In this update:

3RD SATURDAY SERVE DAY, TOMORROW, SATURDAY, JANUARY 20: If you are interested in participating, contact Darrell Foote at dfoote07@verizon.net or 805.660.3061.

DISCOVERING SPIRITUAL MATURITY BEGINS THIS SUNDAY, JANUARY 21: Because spiritual growth is not automatic, the 201 Class helps believers establish habits that promote spiritual growth such as prayer, time in God’s word, spending time with other believers, and stewardship. The 201 Class will be a total of four Sundays (January 21, 28, February 4, 11) at 9:15 am in the Youth Room. If you’ve taken the 101 Class, Discovering a Church Family, this is the next step. Contact Darrell Foote at dfoote07@verizon.net or 805.660.3061, if you have any questions.

BECOME A PART OF OUR MEALS MINISTRY!  As a member of the meals team, you’ll be called on occasionally to provide a meal for an individual, a couple or a family. If you love to cook, that’s great, but the meal does not have to be home-cooked. It’s a blessing to those receiving the meal, home cooked or not. If you would like any additional information or have questions, please call or text Tiffany at 805.415.4974.

YOUTH WINTER CAMP AT ANGELES CREST, FEBRUARY 23-25: Is your middle or high school student signed up for winter camp? Our reserved spots are all taken, but we’re compiling a waitlist to see if the camp can give us more spots as they become available. Don’t miss this opportunity to cement your student deeper in their faith and help connect them better with other students and leaders in the youth group. Angeles Crest does an excellent job of selecting relevant speakers and bands, as well as providing activities that are fun. We strongly encourage you to give camp priority in your student’s schedule, if possible. Contact Christian at 541.601.7131 or Sharon Wilson at 805.204.8644 for more info.

DO YOU HAVE A GIFT OF HOSPITALITY? If you would enjoy serving by preparing/coordinating food and preparing a room for leaders’ meetings, please contact the church office at 805.485.5433.

STEPHEN MINISTRY: Gold Coast has trained Stephen Ministers who offer a ministry of Christian caring. To receive a Stephen Minister’s care, write “Stephen Ministry” on your Connection Card and place it in the offering basket at one of our Sunday services or call Art or Rose Flatray at 987.1428 for more information.

SERVING OPPORTUNITY- COMMUNION TEAM: If you’d like to serve the church in a behind-the-scenes capacity, we have an opportunity for you!  The Communion Team needs a few more teammates who are willing to give 20-30 minutes of their time ONCE a month.   If you attend the 9:15 AM service, you would come in a half hour early to fill the communion cups, do the crackers and take them to the worship center communion tables.  If you attend the 10:45 AM, you would collect and empty the communion trays and refill with fresh cups for the next Sunday.  Contact Lynn Knuth, 805:  443-4471 or alynknuth@aol.com  or put Communion Team on your Connection Card this Sunday if you’d like to give it a try.

THIS SUNDAY, we’ll look at Galatians 2:11–21 and the Gospel’s unifying power. At a time when our country may be more divided now than at any time since the Civil War, many wonder if unity is even possible.  The truth is, unity can be realized but, as we’ll see, the real unity we were designed to enjoy can only be found in Jesus. We’ll see from the passage this Sunday how to we can truly experience it.

Looking forward to being you,

Scott
