Gold Coast Staff
Scott Wilson – Pastor
Scott has been an ordained pastor for 40 years. In 1998, Scott and his wife, Sharon, answered the call to plant a new church in Oxnard. Gold Coast held its first public worship service on Easter Sunday, 1999, in a conference center at the Camarillo Airport. In 2005, Gold Coast moved into its present location. Scott grew up in Fountain Valley, California, where he went to church as a child but didn’t pursue a personal relationship with Jesus until he was 16.
Scott and Sharon have been married since 1981. They have 4 adult children and 7 grandchildren. Always outgoing but not too lucky; he has been a contestant on two TV game shows but lost both times. Scott loves to travel and mountain bike with Sharon, golfing and playing the banjo while chewing a straw and whistling about the bayou. Scott loves God, His word, and sharing it with others. He is passionate about helping build a community that makes disciples who make disciples. He is thrilled that God uses imperfect people to do His work.
Louis DeLuca – Pastor
Louis has been a pastor for over 25 years. He has served at many different levels of ministry, beginning as a high school leader, college and career ministry leader, pastoral intern, associate pastor, lead pastor, Church Planter, and denominational board member. Louis loves preaching and teaching and, in particular, loves “teaching preaching,” something he continues to do to this day. He is passionate about spending time with his wife and two daughters. They love games of all types, water sports, art, and architecture as a family. In addition, Louis loves hunting and going on long, arduous backpacking trips with friends. He also enjoys building design and construction and is currently remodeling his house. Louis is passionate about Jesus and His gospel and loves how the gospel liberates people. His drive in ministry is to make disciples and to help those disciples make other disciples. He also loves leadership development and seeing people use their gifts to impact the world.
Christine Friedl – Children’s Ministry
Christine Friedl is a ‘mid-western raised‘ Californian at heart. Never one to keep nail polish on too long – she loves to garden, paint, and play volleyball with her two daughters. Christine has been a registered dental hygienist in Ventura County for 18 years. She is a former MOPS (Mothers of Pre-Schoolers) leader. Christine is thankful to be grafted into the true Vine and is excited about ministering to children.
Braulio Terrazas – Youth Pastor
Braulio was born in Mexico City and moved to California in 2001. He lived in Ventura for 20 years but now lives in Oxnard, where he’s the youth pastor at Gold Coast.
He is passionate about helping youth know God, and because of that, he also works with Young Life. He gave his life to the Lord in 2014 at a Young Life winter camp – which is how he got involved with ministry. Brulio enjoys skydiving and he loves riding his bike.
He returns to Mexico at least once a year to visit family and go to an orphanage called Niños de Baja.
He loves to be able to introduce children to Christ and help them grow in their faith. Braulio and his team strive to have amazing youth groups, gatherings, and camp experiences, all of which help the youth he works with grow closer to Christ.
Maggie Taylor – Church Administrator
Contrary to the length of time they’ve been married (26 years), Maggie and her husband, Craig, still feel like they are newlyweds.
They have a blended family consisting of 4 kids and 7 grandkids. She is a servant with a servant’s heart and loves helping and working with people, something she gets to do plenty of at Gold Coast. She also loves to help people make connections, whether making new friends, finding new employment, or seeking a new adventure. She and Craig love riding their motorcycles on winding roads in the mountains or along the ocean. While riding, Maggie is known to “make a joyful noise” to the Lord as she sings as loud as she wants since nobody can hear her. She has a voice-over business on the side and gave herself the “professional” name “Maggie at the Mic – the Purple Voice” since purple is a rich color and a symbol of royalty. Something fitting since we are children of the one and true King.
Darrell Foote – Facilities Director
Darrell was blessed with Christ-loving parents, so he attended church weekly from a young age. He was baptized when he was eight. His mom was a teacher and served in Christian education; his dad was a firefighter and a contractor. Darrell ended up working for his dad, and now he can do many home projects and repairs.
He went to Palmdale High School, where he was on the basketball team and was Student Body President. After high school, he attended San Jose Bible College (now William Jessup University), where he met his wife, Char, who he married in 1968. They have three children and nine grandchildren living in Simi Valley. He serves at Gold Coast and is a licensed Real Estate Agent. Darrell enjoys card games, dominoes, and crossword puzzles. He may not strike you as a politician, but that is a title he claims as he served as the Mayor of Palmdale… for one day.
