Spiritual Warfare
December 15, 2019
(Ephesians 6:10-18 and Various Scriptures)

How do you approach Church? As a Cruise ship or Battleship mentality?

Paul compared himself to a fighter, a runner, but especially a soldier.
“I have fought the good fight. I have finished the race, and I have remained faithful”
2 Timothy 4:7

Paul endured suffering as a good soldier of Christ Jesus: 2 Corinthians 11:24

Jesus’ ministry began with a war with Satan: Luke 4:1-13

Paul described the Christian life as Warfare: Ephesians 6:12, 2 Corinthians 12:7, Thessalonians 2:17-18, 1 Timothy 6:12, 2 Timothy 2:3.

1 Timothy 6:12 “Fight the good fight of the faith. Take hold of the eternal life to which you were called when you made your good confession in the presence of many witnesses”

Who are we preparing for spiritual battle?

So how do we fight the battle/enemy?

1) Spiritual battles require spiritual strength. 2 Corinthians 10:4
2) Spiritual battles require spiritual suit. Ephesians 6:13-18
3) Spiritual battles require spiritual sight Ephesians 6:12

When Paul talks about spiritual warfare in Ephesians 6, prayer is the seventh piece of armor.

Pray in the Spirit
Pray at all times
Pray every kind of Request

Restraining prayer, we cease to fight: Prayer makes the Christian’s armor bright; And Satan trembles when he sees the weakest saint upon his knees.
