Four Soils

(King Jesus: The Gospel of Matthew-Part 30)

September 13, 2020

The Passage: Matthew 13:1-23

The Rejection prior to the Parable

-Matthew presents Jesus as King of the Jews.

-Jesus talks a lot about the Kingdom of Heaven.

-The greater evidence Jesus showed as the king, the greater the rejection.

The two-fold Purpose

-A short simple story to compare but most importantly to illustrate a spiritual lesson

-Jesus Parable concealed the truth from those who were hard-hearted but it revealed the truth to those who were soft-hearted.

More like 4 types of Soil

The roadside soil (hard) is the unresponsive heart.

The rocky soil is the impulsive heart.

The weed-infested soil is the preoccupied heart.

The fertile soil is the well-prepared heart.

What Jesus is teaching us

The false and truth will exist before the full-fulfillment of His Kingdom.

The good seed is the Gospel and we don’t need to change it.

What kind of soil are you? We need self-examination.
