OFFRAMP AT DEL NORTE CLOSED THIS SUNDAY: The NORTHBOUND 101 offramp at Del Norte will be closed from 7:00 am to 2:00 pm this Sunday, February 24th. If you’re driving to Gold Coast on the 101 from Camarillo, get off at the Rice Avenue exit and double back on the 101. (The southbound offramp for Del Norte will be open.

CHRISTIAN SCHAEFER has stepped down from his position as youth pastor at Gold Coast. For now, he will be exploring God’s direction for his life in possibly a different line of work. You can read his letter of resignation below. Please keep him in your prayers. This Wednesday, February 27, will be his last day on staff, with the youth group having a going-away party for him that evening. Please be praying with us for God’s direction as we pursue a new youth pastor.
Dear Scott and Gold Coast Board,
I am writing to inform you of my resignation as Youth Pastor. Gold Coast has been incredibly warm and kind to me and my family over this past year. I am very grateful for the opportunity that was given to me, and I leave with a heavy heart for the relationships I have built. I cannot begin to state how much I have learned and how appreciative I am for this past year. I have always felt loved and welcomed. Gold Coast loves Jesus and cares about people. I am so happy to have been able to witness God’s work here.
When I took the position, it was with the hope of staying a minimum of 5 years. Unfortunately, for several reasons, it has become clear that I am unable to make that long of a commitment. Knowing of the limited term of my role, I am stepping down, sooner rather than later, for the long-term health of the ministry. My prayer has, and will be, for a quick, lasting, and effective replacement. I deeply care for the students I have been entrusted with, and fully believe that God has something in the works for the future of the youth at Gold Coast.
I am very thankful and appreciative of this year at Gold Coast. I look forward to making sure that my departure honors Gold Coast and is an encouragement to all those who have encouraged me. Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns, and please share with me any ways that I can help bring joy and finish well during this process.
